I have always loved reading old diaries of distant lives. Here you can read my ongoing story, a log of riding a log (if you will) with musings, tales, poetry, jargon, secrets, cliches, whatnots and whatever else might pop into my head. So next time you are stuck indoors, pull up a warm chair and read about the simple happenings of my life in the Pacific Ocean.

Granny's Avacado

I've been down Montaray agillion times but never stopped at the cute little Deli that sits amongst the houses. Granny's Grocery and Deli is the cutest little shop. After surfing 26th street Manhattan, my mom and I stopped by on our way back through Hermosa. The man working there has owned it for twenty years. He took our order with a Brazilian/Hermosa surfbum accent; another friendly local face. On the menu there is a sandwich called "The Longborder" which is the same avo sandwich I ordered, but with an added meat. He told us that a guy came in every day and ordered his veggie sandwich with chicken and after a while put it on the menu. He wanted to name it after him but a "Gorge" doesn't sound that good, so since he longborded they just called it "The Longborder."

We sat on the tables outside reading "The Beach Reporter," perusing adds of houses for sale and drinking coconut water. I much enjoyed the avocodo sandwich with extra oil and vinegar and Mom had the tuna salad. It felt so comfortable, like we had been there a thousand times; I can't believe I never went there before.
